Renewing
- Sign in and open the Web Cloud section.
- Select Domain names and choose the domain.
- Renewal is managed under My services rather than the domain page itself.
Turning on transfer lock
Under the domain's General information tab, look for protection against transfer.
Moving the notices somewhere safe
OVH contacts are managed at account level under My account. Changing the owner contact on some extensions triggers a verification process.
Worth knowing about OVH
OVH separates the domain from the service subscription more than most registrars, and renewal lives under services rather than under the domain. That split is the usual reason an OVH renewal gets missed.
The three that actually prevent a lapse
- A payment card that is current. An expired card with auto-renew on is the most common cause of a lapse, and the failure notice goes to the same place as everything else.
- A contact address that survives someone leaving. Not a personal address, and not an address at the domain that is expiring.
- The renewal date recorded somewhere other than the registrar's email, because that is the channel that failed.
