Everything below is in the Domain Registration section.
Renewing
- Sign in and select the account, then the domain.
- Open Domain Registration in the left menu.
- Renewal and auto-renew are under Manage.
Turning on transfer lock
Cloudflare applies the transfer lock automatically and it is on by default. It appears under Configuration.
Moving the notices somewhere safe
Notices go to the Cloudflare account email, set under My Profile. There is no separate domain contact address to manage.
Worth knowing about Cloudflare Registrar
Cloudflare sells domains at cost with no markup on renewal, which removes one common failure: the surprise price rise that leads to a deliberate non-renewal that everyone later regrets. DNS and registration sit in one account, so losing account access loses both at once.
The three that actually prevent a lapse
- A payment card that is current. An expired card with auto-renew on is the most common cause of a lapse, and the failure notice goes to the same place as everything else.
- A contact address that survives someone leaving. Not a personal address, and not an address at the domain that is expiring.
- The renewal date recorded somewhere other than the registrar's email, because that is the channel that failed.
