Checking for yourself
Run a free check on any domain. If it returns findings, the scanner is working. It is a more honest test than a green tick on a page we control.
What an outage would look like
- The site is unreachable. Rare, and it does not affect the record — watching runs separately from the website.
- A check times out. Usually a slow registry rather than us. Some registries take twenty seconds on a good day.
- No weekly email arrived. Worth telling us about. Silence is indistinguishable from the service having stopped, which is exactly the failure we are meant to prevent.
What we would do
Fix it, then tell you what happened. If watching stopped for a period, the record will say so — a gap in the history is recorded rather than papered over, because a record that hides its own gaps is not a record.
