Everything below is in the Domains panel.
Renewing
- Sign in and open Domains.
- Select the domain, then Domain Settings.
- Renewal and auto-renew are under the billing section.
Turning on transfer lock
Under Domain Settings, look for Transfer Lock.
Moving the notices somewhere safe
Under Domain Contacts in the domain settings, plus the Squarespace account email.
Worth knowing about Squarespace Domains
Squarespace acquired a large number of domains from the closure of Google Domains. If yours moved across in that migration, confirm the contact address and auto-renew settings actually carried over rather than assuming they did.
The three that actually prevent a lapse
- A payment card that is current. An expired card with auto-renew on is the most common cause of a lapse, and the failure notice goes to the same place as everything else.
- A contact address that survives someone leaving. Not a personal address, and not an address at the domain that is expiring.
- The renewal date recorded somewhere other than the registrar's email, because that is the channel that failed.
